IR Lens Test

Awhile ago I decided to go an purchase an IR lens from Ebay. IR stands for Infrared. This is one of the many frequencies of light that our eyes cant see. I did a little bit of research on photographing IR and I found out some cool things. I found that most digital SLRs are very sensitive to IR light. So much that the manufactures of the cameras put an IR blocker filter on the inside above the cameras Sensor. This filter blocks most of the IR light. You can still take IR photos with a filter but you have to open your camera up to very long shutter speeds to capture an image even in very bright situations. I also found out that there are company's out there that will remove this filter for you and place an IR filter in the camera for you. This allows you to take a photo at normal shutter speeds and create amazing images. Here is a link to the company that does this conversion.
