Highlands NC

One of the many old churches on the one mile strip that is Highlands North Carolina. This one sites on top of a hill right next to the Old Edwards in. While up in NC to shoot photos for Greycliff we made it a point to stay in the quaint town. It is a small high end town during the day and what seems like a ghost town just about 4:45pm everyday. Some stores during the day have items in the window for $10,000.00 CRAZY!!!! If your looking for a vacation spot with hopping night clubs and allot going on this town is not for you. But if your looking for a town that offers a quite place to rest at the end of a long day hiking, rock climbing, horse back riding or even fishing, then Highlands NC is the perfect place. If there was a slogan for this area I think it would be "Highlands tons to do before the sun goes down.
Now let me talk about how I captures this photo. This photo was taken with the following settings Shutter 1.3 at F/3.5 and an ISO of 100. I set the ISO at 100 to reduce the grain and since I had a tripod I didn't mind opening up longer to catch the ambient light. I really like shooting just past sun set to capture the left over blue sky. The sky is always bluest after the sun has gone down.
