Cool Tree

This photo was taken while I was up in New Jersey. I was walking around a lake again shooting with out looking. There was a nice sunset over the lake casting a nice warm light onto the tree. I like the texture this tree has. Its such a close up shot but some how it reminds me of the North.
IR Lens Test

Awhile ago I decided to go an purchase an IR lens from Ebay. IR stands for Infrared. This is one of the many frequencies of light that our eyes cant see. I did a little bit of research on photographing IR and I found out some cool things. I found that most digital SLRs are very sensitive to IR light. So much that the manufactures of the cameras put an IR blocker filter on the inside above the cameras Sensor. This filter blocks most of the IR light. You can still take IR photos with a filter but you have to open your camera up to very long shutter speeds to capture an image even in very bright situations. I also found out that there are company's out there that will remove this filter for you and place an IR filter in the camera for you. This allows you to take a photo at normal shutter speeds and create amazing images. Here is a link to the company that does this conversion.

It's the great pumpkins

Sometimes while out and about with my family I will see a unique photo and shoot it "blind". By blind I mean I will hang the camera down with my finger on the shutter button and just snap a picture. I am always surprised with the image. I think it has something to do with the fact that it is a new image to me. I didn't spend the time to set up the shot so it hasn't gotten old to me. I am looking at something I haven't seen before. This exercisers has also helped me understand where my lens is pointing. Sometime the best shots I have taken my eye wasn't at the eye piece. It allows your camera to get lower or even higher.
What a Dress

What a dress is right. Some would be hesitant to consider this a Trash the Dress shoot. Most are under the impression that a Trash the Dress shoot has to consist of the total destruction of the dress. I tend to disagree with this thought. I believe a trash the dress shoot can be as tame or a crazy as you like. The purpose of the session is to create beautiful shot that would be near imposable to capture on your wedding day. I put it this way, if all you want to do is have a shot with your new hubby in the park...well now you can sit on the grass. Sitting on the grass is something you might not do on your wedding day. Its all about being you! Its your wedding day...and its your Trash the Dress session. This shot was taken at the old Bumby Arcade in down town Orlando. The bride is sitting on a bench and I have an on camera flash. The above light is coming from a huge stained glass sky light. I tryed ovber and over to get the sky light in the shot but it made the bride look distorted from her placement on the lens.
Highlands NC

One of the many old churches on the one mile strip that is Highlands North Carolina. This one sites on top of a hill right next to the Old Edwards in. While up in NC to shoot photos for Greycliff we made it a point to stay in the quaint town. It is a small high end town during the day and what seems like a ghost town just about 4:45pm everyday. Some stores during the day have items in the window for $10,000.00 CRAZY!!!! If your looking for a vacation spot with hopping night clubs and allot going on this town is not for you. But if your looking for a town that offers a quite place to rest at the end of a long day hiking, rock climbing, horse back riding or even fishing, then Highlands NC is the perfect place. If there was a slogan for this area I think it would be "Highlands tons to do before the sun goes down.
Now let me talk about how I captures this photo. This photo was taken with the following settings Shutter 1.3 at F/3.5 and an ISO of 100. I set the ISO at 100 to reduce the grain and since I had a tripod I didn't mind opening up longer to catch the ambient light. I really like shooting just past sun set to capture the left over blue sky. The sky is always bluest after the sun has gone down.
Downtown Orlando Buildings

This photo was taken in down town Orlando. One of our clients had an exhibit on the top floor of the tower on the left. This building is brand new. It still has wet paint and people are starting to fill it up. Its a nice building and really picks up allot of the skyline due to its reflective windows. The day I shot this it was very bright and I had very little cloud cover. You can see the lens flair off of the two top windows. This made it a little difficult to capture this building at that time of day. Instead of one sun to deal with now I am shooting into two suns. It also looks like there was almost a third sun popping in from the bottom. None the less I got the shot and the client was quite pleased.

Maitland Art Fest Pumpkin Patch Photos
This weekend, Spectacle Photo had the pleasure of sponsoring "Pumpkin Patch Photos" at the Maitland Fall Art Festival at Lake Lily. In cooperation with the Maitland Art Center, we organized a festive autumn portrait set-up comprised of hay bales, fall corn, colorful gourds, and of course - pumpkins. Most little kids in attendance (and some big kids too) happily posed in our Pumpkin Patch as we snapped away, capturing casual photos of their sweet faces. Each family will then receive a free electronic image, emailed to them in the next few weeks. What a great way to
celebrate the Fall.It was a wonderful community outreach opportunity for us to collaborate with our friends at the Maitland Art Center, offering a value-added service for little ones who attended the Maitland Fall Art Festival, as well a chance to make Maitland families aware of our kid-friendly and conveniently-located studio. After all, our studio is only walking distance from both Lake Lily and The Maitland Art Center. Our presence was very well received. We had balloons, discounts on future Spectacle Studio sessions, and lots of Halloween candy to share.
Grey Cliff on Lake Glenville
Our latest assignment had us climbing the muddy and rocky terrain of the Smoky Mountains. We where hired to go and capture the beauty and surroundings of a property in North Carolina. I have to say that I didn't know places like this
where still around. The name of the development is Grey Cliff and it is literally on the side of a really big mountain. Walking up the gravel roads to the "sweet" spots you see why they picked this location. The lush landscapes give you almost teasing views of the emerald green lake below. I could only imagine the view from the second story of a log cabin built into the side of this awesome mountain. After a few days of hiking and hunting down waterfalls we headed back to the flat land of Florida to dump the pictures and share them with you.
Enjoy!
